While the national pastime brings us together, it doesn't define who we are as a program. Coach
Groth believes strongly in leading a program that has a strong focus on others. The Apaches are
actively involved in community service in the City of Tyler on a regular basis. The team is regularly
involved in community service projects such as Habitat for Humanity, ARC's walk a mile, Azleway's
Boys Ranch, among others. The Apaches also help help work Trinity Mother Frances' Special Needs
Fair each fall for over 100 special needs kids and their families. While athletes get a lot of attention
in today's sports world, a chance to give back can provide a valuable platform to teach the Apache
players and coaches about life.

Families are also an important part of the Apache program as the team host family days each
semester in an effort to keep Apache families connected. A Family day highlights the fall during the
Black Gold World Series and many Apache families follow the team at home at Mike Carter Field and
on the road throughout the fall and spring seasons.
The Apache Baseball team has also been involved with helping the Azleway Boys Ranch get their
baseball program started. The Apaches have travelled to the Azleway campus and have also done
some work with the Azleway baseball team at Mike Carter Field. We count it as a priviledge to build
into the lives of others and working with the Azleway boys and staff has been a blessing.
